Aromatherapy for Pets

Over the years, we have heard a lot of stories from our customers on how they use our Essential Oils and Aromatherapy Products for their animals. Being that all of us at Essential Nature are huge animal lovers, we have a few of our own as well. Today, we would like to focus on some of our suggestions, based on both the stories we have heard and our own uses.

Lavender Essential Oil is great in helping both people and animals relax. Try a couple of drops on your pets bedding to aid in restless or agitated states. Cats generally do not like to travel, but when necessary to transport them, a couple of drops of Lavender in the carrier should help ease the stress. Try also our Lavender Aromatherapy Mist or our Sleepy Time Pillow Spray. One of our customers told me that they couldn't get their dog to use the bed they had made for him, but instead insisted on sleeping with them in their bed. They started misting the dog's bed with the Sleepy Time Pillow Spray. Their dog began sleeping in his own bed.

Tea Tree Essential Oil is anti-septic and anti-bacterial. Try one drop on a cut or abrasion to both keep it clean and help with the healing process. Also when cleaning food dishes, litter boxes, bedding, cages and carrier containers, add a couple of drops to the water.

For aches and pains when the skin is not broken, use our Muscle Relief Essential Oil Blend. We have heard of people using this on all sizes of animals from small dogs to race horses.

Chamomile Essential Oil Suggested Uses

Diluted in Jojoba Oil, German Chamomile makes a great scalp massage for dry, itchy and/or red scalps.

To use as an anti-inflammatory, blend with Lavender. Apply topically. Good for muscular pain, arthritic, inflamed joints, inflamed tendons, sprains and bursitis.

Great in a massage blend mixed with Lavender for menstrual pains.

Apply topically to calm red, dry and irritated skin and sooth allergies, eczema or psoriasis.

Massage 1 drop into the soles of the feet before bed, to help combat insomnia. Or put a couple of drops onto a tissue and slip the tissue into your pillow case before bedtime.

Rub Chamomile blended in Jojoba oil onto the outside of a baby's cheek to help ease teething pain.
